file naming conventions?????/

#1 Post by bandyaker » Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:39 pm

Hi all I am new so excuse my ignorance.
I have just built a HTPC
I have installed XMBC
I Have installed MakeMkv.
I now want to rip my Blu-Ray/DVD collection to my Hard Drive and into a library on XBMC.

I have ripped my first BD 'Earth' using Make Mkv and am now looking at files such as ,Aux Data,Back up,Clipine,Jar etc etc etc.
I now want to open my ripped Blu-Ray in XMBC.....
Now its at this point I am totally confused :?

Movie naming conventions?
How and where do I enter this info ,such as \Movies\HD\Full Movie Name\movie_blu_ray.mkv ?
I am really sorry if I being a little dumb here .
Anything else I need to here?

Any help would be appreciated here, the mind is not as young as it once was.
best regards
NB
I have just ripped 'Casino Royal' using Makemkv .I am now left with 7 files ,do I have to create a folder for these and name it (as above) in Windows or is it something I do in XBMC?????

You copied the BD. Try ripping just the parts that you want. Let us know what part of http://www.makemkv.com/onlinehelp/ is giving you problems.

For naming, lets say you did The Avengers, that just came out.

You could either do: \Movies\HD\The Avengers (2012).mkv

or: \Movies\HD\The Avengers (2012)\The Avengers (2012).mkv

Thanks for your reply.
After a afternoon of head scratching I have found out how to just rip the parts I want.
Do you name the file in the 'Output file' box or is this done in XBMC?
The majority of problems I am having are in XBMC and getting that to see the files and configuring the scraper etc.
I guess it will become clear eventually ..

Name them after you rip them, then place them in the folder for XBMC.
