Windows locks up occasionally

I am converting my DVDs to use on my Plex server and have really loved the product, but the latest release seems to lock my Windows 7 computer (occasionally - say every 10th DVD or so) and turn one screen either blue or gray. The other monitor continues to display, but the whole computer will be locked, the DVD drive will have stopped spinning, and just in case I have waited an hour to see if it was just processing something.
