Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a reproducible issue with the French 4K UHD Blu-ray edition of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
MakeMKV cannot complete the initial disc analysis. It repeatedly reports invalid M2TS data, and the debug log keeps growing until I manually cancel the operation.
1. Environment
- MakeMKV: 2.0.0 (Windows x64)
- Drive: Pioneer BDR-UD04 (Verbatim external enclosure)
- Firmware: 1.14, original/unpatched
- LibreDrive: Enabled (v02.1)
- Disc label: HUNGER GAMES LA REVOLTE PARTIE 2
- Protection: AACS 2.0/C v70
- Disc type: UHD BD-ROM, 3 layers, 93.21 GB
- Internet access: Enabled
- Direct disc access: Enabled
MakeMKV repeatedly reports corrupt or invalid data in /BDMV/STREAM/00005.m2ts.
The problem occurs during the initial disc analysis, before the title list is displayed.
The analysis never completes and the debug log grows continuously. I manually cancelled it after the log reached approximately 70 MB.

4. Troubleshooting performed
- Connected the drive directly to a motherboard USB port — same issue.
- Created a full backup with "Decrypt video files" enabled — backup reportedly completed successfully.
- Opening the backup locally reproduces the M2TS errors.
- VLC cannot play the backed-up M2TS files.
- MediaInfo identifies only the filename and size of 00005.m2ts, without detecting audio/video tracks.
- Xreveal with KEYDB reports "The decryption key was not found".
- No MKB20_v70_*.tgz AACS dump was generated or found.
I found a potentially related report concerning the Italian UHD edition with AACS v70:
Mockingjay Part 2 UHD – Italian edition
In that case, the user reported successfully using BDKey + Xreveal + MakeMKV.
However, unlike that case, my MakeMKV logs do not report an unknown volume key or generate an AACS dump.
There are also reports of difficulties ripping the French UHD edition using other drives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
