^the last triple layer i was able to rip was Shane 4k (kino) and i think Minions & Monsters 4k. before that, i've had strange behaviors where the drive wouldnt read triple layer and my workaround has always been to poweroff machine, unplug electricity and press and hold power button to discharge then turn it back on. or just a simple reboot would often do it, but unfortunately for almost a month now i haven't been able to read any triple layer. hd66 dual works fine, just not triples. i've reflashed 3.10 multiple times thinkin that would "jumpstar" this.

any other things you think i should try? should i try 3.11 or flash it with other types of fw? the logs don't show anything because right off the bat the drive can't read the triple layer discs. all i get from makemkv is "no disc inserted". is this the last hurrah and should i just save up some $ and try to buy another drive like a pioneer?

Generally LG WH16NS60 1.02 is better for triple layer discs and reading them in. Flash it. You hould also consider to clean the laser lens. Buy a CD cleaning disc.
