i have only seen the light on top red when i was messing the the power, never when a disc has been in there. i tried letting the os see it then opening makemkv but that didnt help either. i took a video of it so you could hopefully hear the drive, dont know if it will help, i posted it on reddit and tagged you in the commentBillycar11 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 7:33 amis the light on top red sometimes?BlueChicken9889 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 7:31 am

I'm curious how this goes. I just got the same drive with the same 1.05 firmware that you had, but I haven't tried flashing it yet.

Re: Buffalo BRXL-PUS6U3B
I've got exactly the same issue. It's connected to external power. I found the 1.00 firmware in Marty's firmware pack, performed the update with SDFtool both with and without bootloader. It completes and says it was successful but then shows the following, as if the firmware was not actually updated even though I received no errors. If I put in a UHD, it spins for a while but ultimately says no disc. Windows Explorer doesn't show the drive. Standard Blu-ray discs work fine. I suspect something has changed with these new Buffalo drives.Billycar11 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 10:05 pmHe has other issues I have flashed many of these they are fine once flashedtimjohnson408 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 6:28 pm I'm curious how this goes. Re: Buffalo BRXL-PUS6U3B
Did you see my recent post? I'm experiencing exactly the same issue out of the box. It would seem to be more than coincidence. Do you have any advice on the situation? I fear that something has changed with the drive making it impossible to flash and that others may experience this if purchasing the drive from BHPhoto using the link you provided in the Ultimate UHD Guide.Billycar11 wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2026 3:40 amSorry man looks like you either have a bad drive discs or power issueBlueChicken9889 wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2026 2:50 am

Don't get me wrong. I know things can change on a dime and I certainly don't hold you responsible. I'm just hoping to get some feedback and a path to a solution. If there is not one and I have to find another drive, so be it.

If that's the case try removing the drive from the case and see what happensstandiego wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2026 8:53 pm

They should be bu40n and work.with UHD once flashed
But as I said I have flashed multiple of these and they worked with the 1.05 fw
