I am trying to get my Pioneer BDR-209MBK drive to read 4K UHD Blu-rays with MakeMKV.

Currently, standard Blu-rays and DVDs read perfectly, and LibreDrive status shows as Enabled when a standard disc is inserted. However, when I insert a 4K UHD disc, the drive does not recognise it and displays "No disc inserted".

Here are my drive details from MakeMKV:
Drive Information
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209M
Revision: 8.11
Firmware date: 2014-01-16
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8600
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 8.11/ID52
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Could someone please point me in the right direction or help me with the correct flasher firmware to enable 4K UHD support for this drive?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello Obi_00,

I have the exact same drive as you, and a few days ago I cross-flashed it with different firmware to make it UHD-compatible. The issue is that I didn’t create a backup/dump of the original firmware.
However, I would like to have the original firmware just to be safe, so I wanted to ask if you would be kind enough to dump the original firmware from your drive and send it to me?
I can help you with that, if you like (including flashing it with UHD-compatible firmware).
Btw. you can request the flashing tool and firmware by following this forum post: viewtopic.php?t=42590

Thank you

Hi Alexomaster,
Yes sure i can provide you with the original firmware from the drive. I will be needing your guidance to dump the original firmware from the drive and also to enable drive capability to read UHD disks.
I am new to the form and unable to send private msgs.
Cheers
Obi

Obi_00 fair enough mate, dumping the original before you flash anything is the sensible move... i learnt that one the hard way on another drive (keep a couple of copies somewhere safe, not just the one on your desktop). Reckon the PM block is just a new account thing and usually lifts after a few posts, so in the meantime id stick it all in the thread alexomaster linked and let him talk you through it there 👍
