Is this drive authentic? Pioneer BDR-S12XJ

I bought it off ebay from a seller who mostly sells random stuff, seems like a normal legit person in the US selling garage sale stuff.

Good feedback. Not strictly electronics, in fact doesn't sell much of them.

Just wondering if this is a authentic Pioneer BDR-S12XJ drive.

I could install it in my computer and open in in MakeMKV or any other program to check, if anyone here has a way to check.

They were not making the s12jx in 2023 only the s13jx

But it may still have old pioneer internal in it

actually his model is a "XJ" and not a "JX"...
so it might be a Legit" Pioneer Drive.

Well there was no xj that's the problem so it's fake

it sayz firmware 2020-07-21 , revision 1.01

and

LibreDrive: enabled
Platform: RS8F01
Firmware name : Pioneer BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original unpatched

so can be assuming got the BDR-212T sold as a BDR-S12JX, or is it a whole another drive? it functions very well, not the fastest maybe, but overall very pleased.

It's most likely a crossflashed BDR‑212DBK, and additionally a recased unit.
Flashed to BDR‑S12JX. Notice that they even wrote S12XJ on the sticker.
Inside it's a genuine Pioneer, but still unfortunate that it's not in the original case.
If it's working properly, keep it.

thanks, one last qeustion: there has been announcement that soon Pioneer drive can also be flashed if it has firmware newer than 2022 ~ or that all Pioneer drive can/will be able to be flashed for UHD compatbility or LibreDrive; has this been happened since? (or are there any exceptions, that cannot be flashed=?)

all pioneer UHD drives now are supported in makemkv with the latest fw
if its not you just need to send a drive dump to mike to add support
