I have this Verbatim Ultra HD 4K External slimline Blu-ray Writer and I get a couple of error messages when I try to rip a UHD demo disk:
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT PRESENT' occurred while issuing SCSI command A40..002000800 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0' Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT ESTABLISHED' occurred while issuing SCSI command AD010..080002400 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0' Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
I can rip regular Blu-ray discs though.
Reading the forum, and asking chatGPT, there seems a way to flash the drive so that it will allow UHD ripping? I do not find Verbatim brand in the list though. Can i follow the instructions in the forum post: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026?
I have never done this before and fear destroying the drive altogether should I do something wrong...
