UHD and BW-16D1HT

Post by badwolfe » Wed Aug 05, 2026 2:11 am

I just received my new ASUS BW-16D1HT (purchased from Newegg) with a mfg date of Jan 2024. I think it may have been a return. I downloaded MakeMKV and ran it. It found BW-16D1HT but said it was already Libredrive enabled. I am brand new to this and thought that at most it would have said Libredrive capable.

At any rate - I found the all you need pack on google drive as it appears the makemkv website is down. I initially flashed with the BW-16D1HT and found I could read normal blu-rays and some older (Alien Covenant for example) UHD discs but could not read either my Godzilla Minus One or Shin Godzilla UHD but again, could read the normal Blu-Ray. When inserting disc - it started loading but after a minute or two stopped with a "Disc Not Inserted Message" No other errors. Turned on logging and nothing in log other than what was put there when I first started MakeMKV.

I ready somewhere that I should flash the drive with DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.02_MK.bin as it fixed the "sleep bug". Did that. Same issue. I then read that I should flash with DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin as it has better positioning algorithms for positioning the laser with the higher density of the 3 layer discs. tried that. Same issue. I've also cleaned the discs. BTW - I am using an OWC Mecury Pro enclosure.

Any advice on what to try next?

TIA......

Please post the full LibreDrive information section (in text).

EDIT: Never mind since the problem is not being able to read/detect some disc(s). (Basically, try a different copy and/or another drive/model -- preferably a Pioneer one.)
