So are the steps detailed above avoiding the error that makeMKV encounters when doing a straight rip and keeping the DV Profile 7 intact?nullunit wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2026 9:00 pm There is an issue when MakeMKV tries to interleave the BL and EL hevc streams for these "Lionsgate 2298 frame RPU" discs. With info from chalaheadchala's posts, I am using this work around for the time being:
1. Use MakeMKV to backup the disc Decrypted
2. Use ffmpeg, dovi_tool, and mkvmerge to create a MKV with DoVi information intact.
The issue might be related to this warning I get from ffprobe at the 1m31s mark:MakeMKV could be getting tripped up by this during the BL and EL interleaving.Code: Select all

Another title with a similar issue was Lionsgate's UHD of The Ninth Gate. I ended up remuxing to use DV Profile 8. When I did a straight rip of that title it would fail but I was able to do a backup and then rip it, but playing back the rip from that method caused my players' video output to go blank with in the first couple of minutes of the movie. I ended up remuxing that rip to use DV Profile 8, but I'm assuming I lost the FEL data.
I was able to successfully rip KBTWHBA with your method and I watched the first few minutes last night with no video dropping.
