Doubts about the future

I had decided to buy a license today, only to find that the MakeMKV website is down.

After reading users' posts about this, I found out a few things. A valid beta key is still available, which is great, but it seems we haven't been able to buy a license even before the website went down.

1. Is there any known reason for that? Was the developer perhaps expecting the project to come to an end?

At the same time, I can still read my encrypted Blu-rays. I expected MakeMKV to stop working completely since, as far as I know, it requests decryption keys from the MakeMKV servers.

2. So what's actually going on? Is it still working because not all of the servers are down (like this forum), or does it cache the required data on my PC and continue working offline?

3. Is there any estimated date for when we'll be able to purchase a license again?

What happens here in the next weeks?

Should we try to salvage something here?
Is the developer perhaps ill or extremely busy and therefore unable to look after this?
Or is it that server costs have become extremely high after all?

I working in the Moment on a new GUI for my MakeMKV.
I'm finished around 90% and looks realy good and modern, fancy.

Does anyone know what was the price for a fully License?

I bought a license a decade ago, the minute I found MakeMKV useful. I have never regretted it.

The keys your computer has downloaded are stored in a file called _private_data.tar located in the configured MakeMKV Data Directory (see in the General tab of MakeMKV's preferences). If the key MakeMKV needs to decrypt a disc is already in the local cache, it does not need to download anything from a server.

MakeMKV can also use keys from the Public KeyDB.

I came here to make a post with the same concerns.

MakeMKV has not had an option to let me buy it since I started using it, and it's making me pretty nervous that I have to use a monthly key that isn't always available.
