Frank Marino - Agora audio codec?

Post by cynoMKV »

Could someone with the Frank Marino – Live at the Agora Theatre Blu-ray tell me what the audio stream(s) are? I’m specifically looking for whether it’s LPCM, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, or standard AC3.

Have you tried asking MakeMKV what it sees? You can expand the data in the left-hand menu to see what each track is.

I don't have a Mac connectable Blu-ray drive. I am hoping somebody can tell me what audio codecs are included before I incur the expense. If it's only the same poor codec that is on the DVD (not Blu-ray) version there is no sense in proceeding. Thanks for your reply.

Normally, it will say on the label what codecs are used. Taking a typical BD movie disk from the pile behind me, there is a section of the back that specifies that English is available as "DTS-HD Master Audio", which means that DTS-HD Master Audio is the MOST COMPLEX audio... but, under normal settings, you'll also have AC3 available, and "normal" DTS. MakeMKV will split the track accordingly.

Other disks always seem to have the most complex audio listed on the back.

At this point, I should mention that buying at least a bluray drive for your computer is a good idea, regardless of this one title, should you consider ripping other titles. BD is considered "minimal gear", and UHD-capable drives are rapidly being gathered up by people who are ripping modern movies.
