In need of a compatible firmware and flashing solution for my Asus BW-16D1X-U

Post by kevin2pop » Sun Jun 21, 2026 7:44 am

Hi, I've recently purchased an external blu-ray drive (ASUS BW-16D1X-U) and when I was trying to flash it before ripping the BD-RE XL disk, it came across a red cross next to MT1959 platform and the encrypted firmware was not displaying after I chose the firmware (DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_MK.bin) to write, my Drive and LibreDrive information are as follow:

Drive Information
OS device name: G:
Current profile: BD-RE
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: E113
Serial number: DEDL113599WL
Firmware date: 2020-07-21
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F00
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: E113/ID76
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Can you please provide me a compatible firmware and flasher that works for my external drive?

Thanks in advance!

So I found all the info needed for flashing the drive. One question I have is what would I loose with the patched software?
Will I still be able to write data onto discs like with the original A105 firmware? It doesn't seem much like a software issue but will I be able to burn M-discs like with the original one?
Will my write speeds be impacted and how much?

So in case I loose the ability to burn discs I'm stuck with this issue with no option tu turn back (I have not found any way to restore the original A105 firmware to the drive) or is there some failsafe other than the original firmware.

you could go back to BW-16D1H-U fw in the mk pack but it would be an older one but should work fine for burning
