Post the MakeMKV drive info. If it's newer firmware, did you et a firmware dump & send it in?
Thanks, no, I don't sent the dump yet. Where do I send? EDIT: Sent to svq@makemkv.com.

You could try to flash it to RS8591 1.10. I think this firmware is supported. Let me know.

I feel like the key is whether BDRFlash has whitelisted RS8590 -> RS8591 (and whether the firmware and kernel are available anywhere).

Available here and pretty sure it will work.

I'm having some issues with a BR burner I bought on Aliexpress and which turned out much to my joy to be a Libredrive Pioneer BD-RW BDR-TD05D 1.00

Problem is:
I was able to rip so far 4 of the 8 BR successfully. It happened one or twice that the initial read of the TOC lead to missing chapters or episodes, but when I ejected and reinserted the disc it could be read. Now starting with the 5th disc, I cannot read/rip any BR successfully any longer... Sometimes the various episodes (6 per BR) are not properly detected or the rip just dies in the middle. The kernel log shows all kind of errors (see bottom of post) and also the UI throws all kind of unreadable errors.

Did I get a broken drive? Can anything be done about this? It does not look like a disc problem, does it?
I see the firmware is V1.00 - is there an update maybe? Thing is I cannot find the model BDR-TD05D on the Pioneer site... Is it fake...?

Using the Linux version here, but the same behavior was observed on Windows with the latest beta.

Thanks for this idea. Where can I find the 1.10 for the RS8591? :)

I've just read that power supply might be one of the reasons it could fail?
The enclose has a fixed cable on the drive side which goes into a classic USB A type plug into the host. In that USB plug you also have a cable outgoing (just 5cm long!) of type USB C, so it's way to short to plug both cables in at once. I've tried just plugging the USB C cable in and had all kind of errors just reading the TOC. (Internal error in MakeMKV etc.)... I am not supposed to put that into a USB wall charger to something, am I?
I also read it's not advisable to use a powered USB hub but I don´t see how I would then be able to give more power to the device?

It is advertised to use a powered USB hub

It Is not advised to use an external USB power adapter without diode in the cable and it can damage your pc

Sorry, how do think the drive should be connected? USB C directly to the host computer and USB to a powered USB hub? But the hub should not be connected to the host? I wonder because basically data was sent both though USB A and USB C: I tried connecting them alternatively and with both connections the drive was detected by the host. Would that cause issues if both plugs deliver data?
For what it's worth: This is the drive and a picture of the connecting cable: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005008728799098.html

Either direct to PC or to a powered USB hub

The hub must connect to host...

Only 1 cable is being used for data not both

Uff, just realized that at the back of the device there is an additonal USB C port labeled DC, 5V. I didn´t notice that one at all yet... Used a 3A powered USB C hub to power the drive via that port and connected with the fixed USB cable to the host... Unfortunately, the errors persist... I still get all kind of USB related errors :-(

Is there a firmware 1.02 for that drive? I've seen in other posts there seems to be one, but I couldn´t find anything for that model on the pioneer webpage?

Hello!

I have a Pioneer BDR 212BK I am hopeful that Libredrive can be enabled. I really just want to be able to process Bluray disks, no real need to process UHD but I'll partner with Billy on that is needed.

I'm running Makemkv V1.18.4 and I see that LibreDrive shows possible, not yet enabled. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
