Any chance I would be able to get this firmware? I have the same drive (BDR-UD03) with Revision: 1.03.

Thank you in advance!

Hello Guys,
An acquaintance will grab around 10 of these Pioneer drives. I will have the opportunity getting one for "free". Condition unknown.
From the various MakeMkv reports posted here, it looks like these drives are LibreDrive enabled with the original firmware.
Could one of you tell me what are the main features of these drives ? And what will be gained by flashing them ?
Many thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge !
P.S. : I plan to install it into an old Lenovo laptop. It will replace the DVD burner installed by Lenovo....

While many Pioneer drives / firmware are supported as LibreDrive, not all of them support UHD. "Modern" models (i.e. those have full BDXL support) can often be crossflashed with firmware from "sibling" models to gain the UHD support. There are also a few firmware that are not supported / recognized as LibreDrive, in which case you may want to crossflash it to make it a LibreDrive as well, or else you'll have to wait until mike add the support (which may or may not happen).

Post your MakeMKV drive info. There're also BDR-UD03 drives out there with another platform which are not flashable (no BD writing, only BD reading and CD/DVD writing = combo drives).

Hmm first time I heard of this, although I'm aware of ASUS SBC-06D2X-U, which makes it less surprising I guess. Do you know if they come in specfic model suffix? (Like ones different from ASW or FAL?) And what is/are the platform (RS) number(s)?

BD combos with RS8591 can't be flashed. Only BD writers with RS8511.

By speaking of RS8950 ......

My brother got a ASUS SBC with this drive inside. It had firmware 1.03 with enabled LibreDrive.

He's a little bit an update freak and flashed to the last firmware 1.10. Now LibreDrive is disabled and Blu-ray ripping is possible only up to 2.1x.

In the web I can't find the 1.03. Anyone have this firmware tool from ASUS?

Has the platform changed from RS8590 to RS8591 after the update btw? 1.10 is supposed to be supported as LibreDrive.

No, the platform is unchanged. It was RS8590 before the fw update also. But I've overlook the "1" instead of the "0".

Hmm that's unfortunate. Most likely the firmware can be supported as LibreDrive but mike hasn't whitelisted it or so.

For SBW, while only the RS8510 variant of 1.03 and 1.10 are listed as supported in the LibreDrive thread, in reality at least the RS8511 variant of 1.10 is also supported (as per drive info posts in the forum and my memory about my SBW before flashing). (EDIT: actually it is listed in the "LibreDrive for Pioneer thread. Wonder if it's just typo in the main thread...)

For SBC, RS8590 1.10 is indeed not listed in the thread.
