LG BH16NS5 with Asus Firmware

I bought an older Blu-ray drive, the “LG BH16NS55” However, in the “Drive Info” window, it’s listed as “Asus BW-16D1HT 3.02” and “LibreDrive Enabled.” So it looks like the previous owner modified the firmware. Now I have several options and am not sure what to do:

1. Leave it as is (UHD ripping works perfectly)
2. Use the recommended firmware WH16NS60 1.02MK
3. Use the firmware Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10MK

fine as is but if you want the sleepbug gone use the WH16NS60 fw

I'm a bit confused about the different firmware versions for the BH16NS55.
In your “Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026,” you recommend using firmware WH16NS60 1.02MK for the BH16NS55.
In Mike’s “Custom Firmware Pack with LibreDrive Patches” the latest version is WH16NS60-1.03MK, but there is also an MK firmware specifically for the BH16NS55: 1.05MK

wh16ns60 is faster and to get rid of sleepbug use wh16ns60 fw also
between ns60 versions performance is same speed wise reports go back and forth on whats better
i havent used one of those drives since 2019 so gave up entirely on them for slim lgs and pioneer in 2022

Just going to post this here in case it's relevant to anyone. I just did a search for BH16NS55 and this is one of the first threads that popped up.

I have a BH16NS55 using the 1.05 firmware.

For the most part it works perfectly but I've had a couple of DVD discs (from the CSI TV show) not work, and not the usual way. Normally with problem discs makemkv will list a bunch of sectors and retries before it eventually fails. With this particular error it would reach a section of the disc and immediately fail. The discs looked pristine and giving them a clean didn't fix it. After multiple attempts I eventually put them in my partners machine that has an old ASUS DVD drive and they ripped perfectly. I expect it's a firmware issue of some kind but it was only 2 discs out of like 90 for that show. I haven't come across it any other time and I've ripped A LOT of stuff.

Anyway just wanted to post it somewhere in case anyone has experienced it and does a search.
