4K/UHD ASUS slim-line USB w/LG drives for sale, new, pre-flashed & tested!

#1 Post by nicholfd » Sat Mar 14, 2026 12:04 am

Hello,

[2026-04-30 Update] - I have drives available, on-hand & normally ship by next business day.

I'll periodically update this first post when stock is low, or I have additional drives coming.

I have ASUS USB slim drives on-hand. All have been opened, connected to a Mac & had the drive and firmware verified with MakeMKV. They have a LG drive with firmware that I have flashed to be 4K/UHD compatible, for backing up 4K/UHD discs.

These include a "Y" USB-A cable to make sure they have the required power for 4K/UHD operation.

Drive details from MakeMKV:
LibreDrive Information
Drive platform: MT1959

I'm selling the drives for $245 USD, already flashed, new in box (only opened to verify drive Mfg/Model/flash Firmware).

These drives come with a disc of software that you *SHOULD NOT* use. Some software may offer/attempt to "update" a drive. If that software is installed/run, it may make the drive unusable with MakeMKV. I only include the discs, because they come in the box with the new drive.

Any questions, feel free to send me a PM, e-mail or post in this thread.

Thanks,
Frank

I want to share my experience with Frank. The transaction was flawless and Frank was great in answering some questions I had before purchasing. The drive arrived a few hours ago and I'm already watching an uncompressed 4k movie through Plex on a tv in my house. The picture is unreal. If you're on the fence and new to this, and like me and had this hobby on your side-quest list forever, grab a drive from Frank. While you're waiting, download any software you'll need and it's incredibly easy.

Many thanks, Frank.

Brian
I enjoy ripping 4k movies and direct playing them on my Plex server. Currently has two ASUS BW-16D1X-U drives.

Ok, do you sell drives that are known to be compatible with Mac Mini? If so, I'm interested if it is flashed and ready to go out the box. Thanks.

All optical/USB drives are compatible with Mac minis (all Apple computers). Thunderbolt is USB-C compatible. Worst case you *may* need a different USB cable or USB-A -> USB-C adapter.

I'm actually a Mac user & use a Mac to flash/test the drives I sell. If Billycar11 doesn't have something for you (I'm not sure about his inventory), send me an e-mail to the e-mail address in my signature & we can discuss a recommendation and any cables/adapters you may need.

Thanks,
Frank

I just purchased an Asus BW-16D1X-U w/LG 5 1/4" drive from Frank last week. Works great using 4k HD movies. Shipped really fast. Was a pleasure doing business with. :D

Long time lurker. First time poster.

Having tried extensively to get two Archon drives to flash on my Mac Pro laptop, I'm admitting defeat. The "Command produced error code 0x82000000" does not appear resolvable by this mere mortal.

Rawflash command errored.Followed the guide. Confirmed normal Blu-ray's function fine. Appending the '-t mtk19xx' got me to the Yes/No authorization. I jumped for joy. Almost literally. Then the above error hits me and I'm at wits end trying to diagnose why. And sans-access to a Windows PC, I'm tossing in the towel.

So....here I am. Hat in hand. Just a guy. Asking another guy. To buy a pre-flashed drive.

Email inbound.

Hello!

Got your e-mails & replied with some options. Problem is with the Archgon USB<->SATA electronics inside. Drive can't be used in that case.

Also, thanks for buying a drive. I sent a separate e-mail with a link to an alternative USB case for the Archgon units you have.

Thanks,
Frank
