Hi @Coopervid,

I hope you are doing well.

I recently got a Pioneer BDR-209M drive and would like to ask if this drive can be made UHD-friendly. If yes, could you please help me with the correct flashing approach?

MakeMKV reports the drive as:

Drive Information
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209M
Revision: 1.34
Firmware date: 2016-04-25
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 82

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8600
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.34/ID60
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

I would rather ask before trying anything risky myself, since I do not want to flash an incompatible firmware.

I currently cannot send PMs yet, but I can provide the serial number or any additional information as soon as PMs are available for my account.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Coopervid,

thank you very much for your PM, the files and the tutorial.

Unfortunately I currently cannot reply to PMs, so I hope it is okay to answer here.

I followed your instructions and the BDR-209 flash worked perfectly. The drive is now detected as a BDR-S11 / BDR-211 and UHD discs work in MakeMKV. I also sent a donation via PayPal as a thank you.

I wanted to ask if you could also help me with another Pioneer drive, a slim BDR-UD03. I am trying to find out whether it can be crossflashed to enable UHD support as well.

MakeMKV reports it as:

Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-UD03
Revision: 1.14
Firmware date: 2020-06-15
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 82

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8511
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-US03
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.14
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

If this drive can be made UHD capable, I would really appreciate your advice.

Thank you again for your help.

Hi Coopervid,

thank you very much for your help and for sending the files/tutorial.

Unfortunately I still cannot reply to PMs directly, so I am replying here.

The UD-03 flash worked perfectly!

Thanks again for sharing the files and the clear instructions. Much appreciated!
