The Substitute Issues

Post by EventDriven » Fri Mar 20, 2026 4:34 pm

Is anyone else having issues ripping the Lionsgate 4k "The Substitute"? It gets to 170.3M and then just hangs. I let it sit for awhile but it never actually errors out, it just stops ripping. I do have some av sync issues. I've tried to rip it live and from a backup as well using multiple drives. Wondering if anyone else has run into this?

Code: Select all

AV synchronization issues were found in file 'C:/.../The Substitute (1996)/The Substitute (1996).mkv' (title #3)

Same here and in the exact same spot. I got around this by making a decrypted backup then using MKVToolNix to create the MKV. You'll need to rip the Blu-ray to MKV then "add as new source files" into MKVToolNix and deselecting everything from the Blu-ray except the chapters if you want chapters in the final MKV.

Hey thanks, that worked perfectly! Hadn't used MkvToolNix for that before so good to get another technique to add to the tool chest. Much appreciated!
