AHCI

Post by Spook »

I hate to beat a dead horse, and I've been able to get around the the need to use AHCI until recently. I've upgraded, and Apparently to run TRIM I will have to have my system configured for AHCI. MakeMKV has been very handy to cut down the number of steps required to convert a Bluray to MKV file, but like many, under AHCI, MakeMKV can't see the optical drives. My research on this trouble shows that the trouble seems to go way back, and I hope upon official release of this utility, these troubles can be ironed out. I'm only posting to explain, that among others MakeMKV won't be useful until this trouble is resolved.

Thanks

This is NOT going to be corrected in the next version (1.4.9) but WILL be corrected in 1.4.10 . I wish I had better news, but that's it.

Everyone who encounters AHCI problem, please provide the following information: Are you using built-in windows drivers or intel matrix drivers and what driver version do you have? You can get this information in device manager, "driver" tab. Thanks.

I'm using the Intel drivers, but the non-RAID drivers. Intel(R) ICH9R/DO/DH 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller - 2922 v7.0.0.1013

I have downloaded and installed the latest : MakeMKV 1.4.10 for Windows, on my AHCI system, and it is working now. Well, I haven't finished the whole Bluray yet(its working on it), but it is definitely getting further than before.

Thanks Mike
