Which one is correct? LG bu40n

Both are advertised LG BU40N. The top photo taken from LG and the bottom being mysterious. I ask because the official LG shows their photo with the front tray showing "Ultra HD Blu-ray" marked on it. And the others do not (top photo for reference). Did LG make different trays for BU40N? Are they both legit or one is a knockoff? The specs for both say they are UHD drives but only the official LG website shows their trays with the UHD marked on them.

Also anyone know if "unbranded" drives work with makemkv? not knowing much whats inside because they are unbranded.

If the sticker shows BU40N and UHD BD writer both are good. The newer ones hasn't the UHD logo on the front anymore.

Interesting... I already ordered the one without the UHD marker (it only says bluray and DVD). But the sticker on the metal says UHD. Very odd. I will be testing it out in about a week. If its legit.

I bought 4x LG BU40N's within the last 2 months, from 2 different places, they were manufactured between Oct & Nov of 2025, all 4 have the UltraHD logo.

Make of that what you will, they rip 4k movies just fine.
