Asus BW-161HT Dec 2023 FW 1.03

#1 Post by moviemadness » Wed Feb 11, 2026 2:12 pm

Unable to change the FW version on the drive with the SDFlasher tool. The tool is returning this as the error, "The drive you have selected does not have the correct drive platform (mt1959) and cannot be flashed" The drive is new Dec 2023. I'm sure I'm out of luck..

Post your Makemkv info. Is Makemkv installed? SDFTool flasher is just a front-end for it.

Take a look at this post: viewtopic.php?style=3&t=38735

The other person has exactly the same issue that I have. Appears that the drive has a fradulent drive manufacture date on it. The true serial number is:

ASUS BW-161HT S#MOFO2S83950
Which indicates that is actually is Manufactured June 2014.

The drive I have cannot be flashed. Anyone buying off of Ebay be wary of any drive that has a manufactured date of Dec 2023!!

The internal serial numbers for LG drives differ from what is on the chassis. Is your drive an MT1939 platform?

The strange thing is when I opened up the drive the controller looks like it's a, Mediatek ARM MT1959UWDN. I'm not sure why it's reporting that it is the other controller.

Well, the first 1959 controllers were actually only 1939 compatible. Only the newer revisions in late 2015 were actually UHD capable.
