mkvtoolnix-gui
I installed this and I can see how to change the 13 to a 14 for right eye, so I will try doing that. But I don't even see the MVC inside the MKV file... even though I know it is there. So that is why my playback doesn't happen in 3d... if I can't see the MVC file, then the player must not be able to see it either???
Also, I just realized that swapping the 13 for a 14 isn't going to solve anything since I must still turn it into a m2ts... and then that 13/14 is completely gone, right?

Importing a m2ts with AVC+MVC processed with tsMuxeR into mkvtoolnix doesn't seem to work for me. On the other hand, MakeMKV is able to mux a 3D mkv file which can then go into mkvtoolnix.
mkvtoolnix treats the AVC and MVC together as one video track. If mkvtoolnix-gui recognizes the MVC data, you should see that the Destination filename has a file extension of .mk3d instead of the usual .mkv extension. You can rename it to .mkv at any time.

That's right. If you convert from mkv to a different container format like m2ts, that specific piece of info won't carry over. Also, your TV or video player needs to support mkv along with MVC and the stereoscopy option, otherwise this whole exercise won't solve the problem with the swapped MVC eye. I know that PC video players like mpc-hc+madVR will handle it correctly.

Thank you! Yes, I saw it was .mk3d so I never thought of renaming that. However, neither my Sony TV nor my Sony X700 player "seems" to support the 3d MKV files via their USB ports... so that is my primary limiting factor at switching the 13 to 14 for "right eye" movies. They only play MKV files in 2D for some reason. And my thought was that the MKV stored the MVC file in the "first position" but I have no way of knowing if that is an issue with the MKV file or if that is just how the tsMuxeR program opens the MKV file... but clearly every single time the MVC is first when I open it in tsMuxeR.

Is there a newer answer to ripping a 3D disc? Just wanted to know the latest forum answer to how to 'rip' the 3D and load it onto my NAS and have it accessed by my 3D TV. Please include 'steps' for going from 3D disc to 3D 'NAS' capable playback. Thank you so much in advance!

Ripping is not the problem, you need to find out what your TV can play and then after ripping to find the correct processes and tools to convert it for your TV. I create ISOs with tsmuxer from the .mkv files that MakeMKV produces, as that's something my player understands.

I have been creating m2ts files with tsmuxer from the .mkv files that MakeMKV produces.
If I have an ISO and my TV will not play it, how would I convert that to m2ts?

Yes, this can be done. I assume what you're attempting to do is rip a 3D Blu-ray to something like a HDD or SSD, plug that in via USB, and play back the frame-packed 3D Blu-ray on your standalone player on your 3DTV. This is easy as hell, but PICKY as hell. SO easy in fact that I couldn't believe it was something so simple, but I've tested this now with several discs, and it has worked every time.
1. Rip just the movie file with MakeMKV, and make sure you check the MVC video stream. All of that we knew...
2. Open the resulting MKV file with tsmuxer and export to m2ts. Now - HERE'S the VITAL step that makes the file work...when you load up the MKV file into tsmuxer, the MVC video is in Position 1 by default. You MUST highlight the MVC video and move it down to Position 2. THAT'S IT. That's the whole damned problem. I don't know why this is a thing, but it is. Once you get your m2ts file, just throw it on your USB drive, and your player will play it back just like a 3D Blu-ray disc, auto-detecting the 3D signal and all. Hope this helps!
I just did what you suggested, including moving the video file down to position two with House of Wax, and it doesn't work. Tsmuxer produces the m2ts files, but neither MPCH64 nor VLC media player plays the movie in 3D. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Edit: Maybe I needed to tick the MVC box in MakeMKV? I'll try it again. Edit: Saw the MVC file. Moved it down to position 2. Played the m2ts file. Still no go.
