Hiya,

I've been having trouble trying to use SDFtool Flasher. Sorry if I miss out relevant details, I'm new to all this stuff.

Below is my drive information from MakeMKV:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: MO5P5MF1048
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 61

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

I was attempting to use the SDFtool Flasher today, but I kept encountering the following error message:

Input string was not in a correct format.

When I expanded it to see the details, this was the message:

System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
at System.Number.ThrowOverflowOrFormatException(ParsingStatus status, TypeCode type)
at System.Convert.ToInt32(String value)
at SDFtool_Flasher_Updated.Form1.<>c__DisplayClass46_0.<<button_START_Click>b__2>d.MoveNext()
--- End of stack trace from previous location ---
at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.<>c.<ThrowAsync>b__128_0(Object state)

I'm not sure if I'm flashing the correct file. I've tried LG_BU40N_1.03_MK and LG_BU40N_1.00.

Sorry if these are obviously the wrong files, as I said above, I'm rather new to all of this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Ensure MakeMKV is installed in the default location (C:\Program Files (x86)).
Ensure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed.

I assume this is a Verbatim 43888, 43889 or 43890? As v1.05 is encrypted, you must use BU40N_1.03_MK first. Once flashed, you can leave it or then flash to BU40N_1.00.
Cheers :D

I'd like to ask the experts on the subject which is better to buy: BW-16D1HT BOX or Verbatim 43888?
Which lasts longer?, Does the sleep error also affect the Verbatim 43888?

1. 43888
2. Impossible to predict. Every drive is different.
3. No.

I have a follow up question.

Does it matter which firmware version I have installed in terms of being able to read the most amount of UHD and Blue Ray discs? I have been having been experiencing a lot of back up failures recently and am wondering if it is related? I read that someone had installed Firmware version 1.03 and that had resolved some disc readability issues they had been having. Should I stick with firmware version 1.00?

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.

I recently purchased a Verbatim 6888 optical drive and attempted to use the SDFtool Flasher to flash the firmware. The internal drive is the BU40N model. I have attempted to back up several of my UHD discs but they have all failed. Can anyone check my drive information to verify that I have successfully enabled LibreDrive?

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk7
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.00
Serial number: -
Firmware date: 2116-12-20 15:28
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information

Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.00

Probably not related to the firmware.

For 4K/UHD - check the power to the USB drive. Be sure you have a good external power supply or are using 2 x USB connections to USB ports that supply enough power.

Thanks,
Frank
