Re: SDFtool Flasher
I'd like to ask the experts on the subject which is better to buy: BW-16D1HT BOX or Verbatim 43888?
Which lasts longer?, Does the sleep error also affect the Verbatim 43888?

2. Impossible to predict. Every drive is different.
3. No.

Re: SDFtool Flasher
I have a follow up question.
Does it matter which firmware version I have installed in terms of being able to read the most amount of UHD and Blue Ray discs? I have been having been experiencing a lot of back up failures recently and am wondering if it is related? I read that someone had installed Firmware version 1.03 and that had resolved some disc readability issues they had been having. Should I stick with firmware version 1.00?

I recently purchased a Verbatim 6888 optical drive and attempted to use the SDFtool Flasher to flash the firmware. The internal drive is the BU40N model. I have attempted to back up several of my UHD discs but they have all failed. Can anyone check my drive information to verify that I have successfully enabled LibreDrive?

Probably not related to the firmware.Noob123 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 8:02 pm I have a follow up question.

For 4K/UHD - check the power to the USB drive. Be sure you have a good external power supply or are using 2 x USB connections to USB ports that supply enough power.
Thanks,

Re: SDFtool Flasher
Hi Marty,
What's the difference between the BU40N_1.03_MK firmware and the BU40N_1.00 firmware?
I'm asking from a user perspective.
Does one support BDXL discs better than the other?
I'm mainly concerned about writing discs.
I know that version 1.00 is compatible with other programs, not just MakeMKV.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been really busy all week. Thanks so much for the help, I tried flashing it again last night and it worked.MartyMcNuts wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 10:12 pm Ensure MakeMKV is installed in the default location (C:\Program Files (x86)).
Ensure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed.
I assume this is a Verbatim 43888, 43889 or 43890? As v1.05 is encrypted, you must use BU40N_1.03_MK first. Once flashed, you can leave it or then flash to BU40N_1.00.

Re: SDFtool Flasher
For UHD discs, MK firmware is only compatible with MakeMKV and Xreveal. 99% of people here don't care about writing discs.Szary Kot wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 5:38 pm Hi Marty,

The drive is a LG BU40N. You can get the original LG flasher from LG's website.gock01 wrote: Sat Jan 31, 2026 3:58 pm Hello,

Re: SDFtool Flasher
If you still write/burn discs, use BW-16D1HT 3.10-MK. If you only rip discs and don't care about writing/burning discs, use WH16NS60 1.02-MK.meepster wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 9:12 pm i have a ASUS usb drive was wonderring what do i need to flash with to make is Usable.

but its not normal on a lg makemkv will report it as errors
then do the usual thing power off the drive for a few mins then try again if that dont help clean the disc then replace disc then clean lasers then get a nonexistent pioneer
