Post the MakeMKV drive info and libredrive info sections for the drive.
Here's the data you asked for:

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom1
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BP60NB10
Revision: 1.02
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2121-07-08 15:56
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)
You are using Windows 10/11 64 bit aren't you? I assume you downloaded my all you need firmware pack when you downloaded the SDFtool flasher? You made sure that MakeMKV is installed in the default location (ie: C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV)? You made sure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed?

If your drive is SVC NB12 (sticker underneath) you should flash DE_LG_BP60NB10-NB12_1.02-MK. If it is SVC NB10, you should flash DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.02-MK.
Yes, I am using Windows 11 64 bit. MakeMKV is installed and in the location you wrote here. I did download the all you need firmware pack with the SDFtool flasher. I'll check what you are recommending I flash vs what I tried to flash.

Thanks

So I re-downloaded the firmware pack to make sure I have the right files. The flash seems to have worked. I no longer see the messages (with patched firmware). However, trying to read a UHD disk, it acts like there's no disk has been inserted.

Here is the up to date info for the drive: (notice it says no disk inserted, but I do have a UHD disk in it at this time.)

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom1
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BP60NB10
Revision: 1.02
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2121-07-08 15:56
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted

Did you power cycle the drive after flashing? If not, do so.
Always insert the disc then wait for the OS to initialise it (can be seen in windows explorer) before you open up MakeMKV.
Sometimes, if a disc won't show in MakeMKV, the disc needs to be cleaned.

Note of course I haven't even gotten to the point of having to read a 4K disc as I haven't yet been able to flash the drive. I continue to successfully burn single and double layer discs from one of the front 3.0 ports on my computer. When I once again get to the point of trying to flash the drive, I'll search out one of the USB ports on the rear of my computer; another option is to go to an older computer that's not connected to a 4K monitor and hook up my new drive to that after installing MakeMKV on it.

I have the display setting scale on my computer set to 300 (which is recommended for my 4K monitor). If I had it set to 100 I wouldn't be able to see any text. (One issue noted with the interface is that the high DPI settings much be changed so the interface is visible and usable.)

Read the first post about changing the DPI settings of the SDFtool Flasher exe.

I don't want to start a new topic. I have a request and a question at the same time. Is it possible to flash ASUS BW-16D1HT (3.11) so that it works with UHD and MakeMKV? I guess the problem here will be firmware 3.11? Could someone smart explain this to me?

------------------------------------
Drive Information
OS device name: J:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.11
Serial number: KLUNC193xxx
Firmware date: 2120-12-01 17:59
Bus encryption flags: 1F

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

No disc inserted
-------------------------------------
Edited
Please confirm whether I should first flash:
DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.02_MK?

Then, if necessary, should I flash:
DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_MK?

Is this a good solution? What are the differences between the two firmwares from a user's perspective?
Please reply.

No need to flash one, then the other. Both of those can be flashed to directly.

A bit of info first. The NS60 firmware reads faster and removes the UHD disc sleep bug thus is recommended but may or may not affect writing discs. (LG drives in general are not very good at writing discs, especially around the layer break).

Your firmware choice is easy and totally depends on whether or not you still write to discs. If you do still burn discs sometimes, use the ASUS firmware. If you only rip discs, use the NS60 firmware.

Okay, so I restart my computer to power cycle the drive. I inserted the UHD disk I wanted to rip and waited for the OS to initialize it. The OS acts like the disk is a blank DVD to burn on to and doesn't recognize it as a movie disk.

Here is what comes up:

As it is a USB drive, power cycle means disconnect the USB cable from the drive or computer for a couple of minutes before reconnecting. Arre you sure it is actually a 4k UHD disc?

A couple of months ago, I purchased a 4k UHD movie from Amazon (The Fantastic Four First Steps) and what I actually recieved was a blank DVD disc with the UHD movie label printed on the disc. I quickly contacted Amazon about this poor counterfeit attempt and returned it.

Hi, guys. My ASUS BC-12D2HT firmware Version is 3.11, my My computer is running Windows 11 64-bit.
I want to flash the firmware to version DE_ASUS_BC-12D2HT_3.00.
Here are my steps, please tell me if I'm right. I use SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.4)
1. I WRITE current firmware Version 3.11
2. I RECOVER, first wrong current firmware Version 3.11, then chose right version DE_ASUS_BC-12D2HT_3.00.
Is that right? Thank you, guys.

So are you currently on BC-12D2HT 3.11-MK or the original 3.11? You aren't very clear. If on 3.11-MK, you can already rip UHD discs. Why do you want to flash it to 3.00?

This particular model often has flash issues. I've come across this myself a few times. It is best to leave it on BC-12D2HT 3.11-MK but if you want to risk it, your steps would be:

1. If it is the original 3.11 firmware and has never been flashed, flash it to BC-12D2HT 3.11-MK. If already on BC-12D2HT 3.11-MK, ignore this step.
2. Flash directly to BC-12D2HT 3.00. No need for the RECOVER process.
Cheers :D

Hiya,

I've been having trouble trying to use SDFtool Flasher. Sorry if I miss out relevant details, I'm new to all this stuff.

Below is my drive information from MakeMKV:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: MO5P5MF1048
Firmware date: 2124-04-23 13:47
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 61

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

I was attempting to use the SDFtool Flasher today, but I kept encountering the following error message:

Input string was not in a correct format.

When I expanded it to see the details, this was the message:

System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
at System.Number.ThrowOverflowOrFormatException(ParsingStatus status, TypeCode type)
at System.Convert.ToInt32(String value)
at SDFtool_Flasher_Updated.Form1.<>c__DisplayClass46_0.<<button_START_Click>b__2>d.MoveNext()
--- End of stack trace from previous location ---
at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.<>c.<ThrowAsync>b__128_0(Object state)

I'm not sure if I'm flashing the correct file. I've tried LG_BU40N_1.03_MK and LG_BU40N_1.00.

Sorry if these are obviously the wrong files, as I said above, I'm rather new to all of this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I did end up disconnecting the cable to the PC for a bit and then re-attached the cable. It is a UHD disk. I have watched the movie on my Blu Ray UHD player.

Edit: I just went back and confirmed it plays on my Blu Ray UHD player.

Has it been flashed before? Is Libredrive enabled? If yes, then you are on 3.11-MK and should already be able to rip UHD discs.
