Odd external juwuoi External Blu Ray 7-in-1 drive?

Post by bobross »

Was doing a little research and I think this is a rebranded Hitachi-LG BP55EB40 (often referred to as BP55) drive?

Google says I can enable 4K with the firmware BU40N 1.00 or specific 1.03-MK version? Anyone know if this is true?

MakeMKV info:

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: DVDRW/BDROM CA10
Revision: A110
Serial number: XXXXXXXXXXX
Highest AACS version: 82
Thanks for any info. This drive is kind of cool!

Can't tell from that. Post the Libredrive info section too. Although I seriously doubt it. From what info I can find, the CA10 is from around 2009-2012 thus too early to be flashed for UHD. I also doubt that it's a BP55. What makes you think that?
Cheers :D

Here it is:

Code: Select all

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
I also doubt that it's a BP55. What makes you think that?
That came up in a google search result.

A link might have been helpful?!?

In the drive info section the firmware date is missing. What is this date?

If the date is late 2015 or newer and the drive platform does show as MT1959, so yeah, you might be able to flash it, if it's cheap enough and you feel the reward is worth the risk.
Cheers :D
