I don't know how to share an image here so I'll describe it.
It's an LG drive that appears to be in an older Dell desktop system(I'm guessing early to mid 2010s). On the left of the tray face it says M-DISC and on the right it says super multi. A Google search gives mixed results and so I'm seeing if anyone know would know.
Can you tell if this drive is capable of ripping UHD(4k)?
Re: Can you tell if this drive is capable of ripping UHD(4k)?
If the LG drive is older than 2016 then it does not support UHDs.
The info about the drive on MakeMKV's first screen will provide the details someone can use to make a determination. Or, if you pull the drive and post a picture of the stickers on it, that'll have the info as well.
The info in the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide will tell you what to look for. See the list of requirements near the top of the first post.

A little correction, the BH16NS55 is ready for 4K or 4K flash even with production date 2015

Not before October 2015 unless you are willing to risk it. Must be MT1959 drive platform.
Cheers

Yes, the MT1959 is necessary of course. I don't know right now which months I have had in my hands in the past, but all had SVC NS55 and MT1959.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 9:31 amNot before October 2015 unless you are willing to risk it. Must be MT1959 drive platform.
Or worded differently I never had a BH16NS55 from 2015 without MT1959 / SVC NS55. Are there any of these drives with MT1939?

Don’t know about the NS55 but have seen the NS40 from mid 2015 with MT1939.zittrig wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:13 amYes, the MT1959 is necessary of course.
