Is my LG BH16NS40 toast?

#1 Post by flash67 » Mon Dec 29, 2025 4:44 am

I all of a sudden cannot seem to write onto any BD-R - write errors.

DVDRs work fine.

Is my drive toast? I've had it since I purchased it in December of 2015 for $100CAD.

FW 1.03

Reading BD works? Other BD-R brand tested?

You can try to clean the laser lenses with alcohol and q-tips. Do it twice and dry immediately, not let it dry by air.

If that don't work you can assume that the blue laser is defective.

Reading BD works - just threw in a bluray and I can see the folder/files. Don't have any other brands, just have Verbatim BD-R and BD-R DL

So I just attempted to make an iso of a bluray, which worked fine.

I went to write that same .iso to a bluray and it failed... Would cleaning the lenses work you think?

I doubt it. But better check it out instead throwing it in the tin unchecked.

Has power connection changed?
