What is the process for ripping discs with a newer AACS version error?

Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
Re: Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
MakeMKV should've produced a dump (.tgz file) from that disc. Email it to svq@makemkv.com. Eventually, a key will be produced and when you try the disc again in a few days MakeMKV will download the necessary key.
Additionally, you can try the public keyDB. The first post in the Public KeyDB Disc Submissions thread has instructions on how to use the keyDB with MakeMKV. It might already have a key for your disc. If it doesn't (and you don't have Pioneer drive) you can also submit the dump for inclusion in the keyDB.
Re: Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
I ran into this yesterday with something I got. Bummed that it has a newer AACS version. Only question would be since it's a set with six discs, would I need to submit all six discs, or just the first (or any one really) disc? I did submit the first disc, wasn't sure if I needed to do all of them.dcoke22 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 4:36 amMakeMKV should've produced a dump (.tgz file) from that disc. Re: Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
You should submit the key for each disc as they're almost assuredly different for each disc.
For popular movies, different batches of discs will have different keys and you'll see multiple people making different submissions for the same title.
Accidentally sending a duplicate to svq@makemkv.com isn't a problem. If you make a submission to the public keyDB you should try to avoid submitting a key that's already there since is wastes a volunteer's time.

Re: Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
Good info! Definitely makes sense to submit each disc separately, especially for a set like that. Hopefully, the keys will come through quickly.
Re: Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
It should be noted that the public keyDB can be used by MakeMKV with any brand of optical drive. If you find a disc for which MakeMKV doesn't have a key, by all means submit the dump to the email address. In the mean time, try configuring the keyDB and see if they've already got the key.
Re: Good Fortune - Newer AACS version
Sent in all six. Keep trying in the interim to see if anything's changed. I got the US vs UK version of this thinking "Hey, let's support local distribution". Dammit - if I had imported, probably be different.dcoke22 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:57 pmYou should submit the key for each disc as they're almost assuredly different for each disc.
