PIONEER BD-RW BDR-212U - flashed - Not ripping newest UHD

#1 Post by matt120 » Wed Dec 10, 2025 6:33 pm

Hi,

Newbie here. I have a proper flashed PIONEER BD-RW BDR-212U which is usually great. Purchased a new 4K UHD movie from Poland and unable to open with MakeMKV v1.18.2 darwin(x64-release). Haven't had any issues with Polish or international UHDs before.

I'm posting the Makemkv info in and the output text below.

1. I have the stuffed AACS dump file(s) but not sure where to submit since it's Pioneer drive and from what I've read can't submit public keys to site.
2. Any help much appreciated.
Thank you, Matt

As has always been the case, email the dump file to svq@makemkv.com. A hashed key will eventually be produced and MakeMKV will download it as necessary.

UHD FAQ

The Public KeyDB is an optional alternative source of decryption keys for MakeMKV. Submitting dumps for it is optional as well. I know they prefer LG based drives as not all Pioneer drives provide enough information in the dumps generated by MakeMKV to work with the public KeyDB.

Some Pioneer drives like a BDR-UD04 or an S11 do not provide any useful information for the public keyDB purposes. Some Pioneer 212 drives have produced useful info for AACS v82 discs (regular blu-rays discs with the latest version of AACS encryption). I do not know if a Pioneer 212 drive will produce useful info for a 4K UHD disc (UHDs use a different AACS than regular blu-rays). Perhaps keydb_helper or someone else with more knowledge of the Public KeyDB will make a comment about the usefulness of dumps from your drive.
