Just flashed my drive and it is not reading any of the UHD discs that I insert. Emailed details to Billycar, but figured I would also post here in case anyone else can help.

It looks like the flasher did something because the Product now shows "BD-RW BDR-S12JX" instead of "BD-RW BDR-S12" and the Firmware Version changed to "1.01/ID72" from "1.01/ID45"

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Manufacturer: PIONEER

You need to power off your PC, wait a bit and then restart it. Then try again.

Thanks for the reply. I powered down my PC for about 30 minutes and after turning it back on the drive still does not read UHD discs. I tried a 1080p bluray and the drive read it without any issues.

Please let me know if you have any other troubleshooting tips. Is there any info/logs I can post that would help?

Contact Billy. This firmware you have is usually not what is provided to ensure UHD compatibility.

I cleaned the laser and the drive was able to read a 4K disc, but makemkv threw a read error halfway through the rip. I re-cleaned the laser and now the drive is back to not reading 4K discs. It can still read and rip 1080p blu rays without any issues.

If anyone has additional troubleshooting ideas please let me know, but I’m starting to think UHD isn’t in the cards for this drive.
