Hello ,
i have received Bluray UHD drive, and it functions well,
very happy with it;
now however would like to play DVD, and it seems it is from another "region".
The program alerts me
You can only change the drive region code 5 more times
Is there a way to make this drive a bit more "universal"?
A bit like with the Standalone-DVD-Bluray drives (requiring possibly "hack")?
Thank you very much.

No there is not. MakeMKV doesn't care about region coding anyway. You didn't say what player you are using so I assume you are using VLC. Just associate VLC with MakeMKV and ensure it is running when you go to play the disc.kapqa wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 8:24 pmHello ,

Although, direct disc playback isn't recommended. It will wear out the drive and possibly the disc quite a bit faster. Much better to rip the disc once (saving the drive and disc) and play the resulting mkv file as many times as you want.
Cheers

Re: remove RegionLock permanentely?
In the old days there were RPC1 firmwares for DVD drives, which made the drive region free. But ever since the BluRay/DVD combos, I never heard of any current firmware doing so.
