Asus SBW-06D5H-U - Stopped Working

I have the above external DVD/Bluray drive which has been working fin for the past year, however it has recently started coming up with the following message;
Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE' occurred while issuing SCSI command A30..01001000E0..0214F65476E654C6168430..0 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'
Drive BD-RE ASUS SBW-06D5H-U E102 CLDL284244WL has RPC protection that can not be bypassed. Change drive region or update drive firmware from http://tdb.rpc1.org. Errors likely to follow.

Drive = Disc drive region 2, Disc Region 2
Anyone know whats causing it?

Have you power cycled the drive?

I've seen a couple of other people post on the forum with similar errors. I'm not sure what they mean.

Thanks for your reply....

If you mean - turned off Drive, Unplugged Drive from power and comp, then Restarted computer, I've done all that with no differnce to error.
I've even been to look for a flash, but can't see my drive, Asus or Pioneer on the listings

Any other ideas?

Does the drive behave differently with a DVD vs a blu-ray?
