Based on the SDF update November 2025 I see that there are a bunch of BDR-209D firmware versions listed:Would this mean that a a BDR-209DBK (I am going to assume that BK means black) manufactured in 2022 it should now work?Code: Select all

If the drive is manufactured before 12/2022 would that mean the firmware is okay? Would the version be on the label or it is something that would need to be dumped from the drive?

So noted. For this model is there something to look for to make sure the firmware allows for flashing? Is the manufacture date sufficient?Coopervid wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:31 amYou need to post your Makemkv info. My crystal ball seems to be too dull. Get the drive and if it has firmware younger than 12/2022 it's fine. If not, return it.mossman1120 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 2:39 pmI don’t have it yet otherwise I would. Trying to avoid getting stuck with a drive that I can’t use.

Here's a spare I just picked up from a yard sale, chinese box and all. Looks like the firmware is very recent. I'm wondering if it's possible with this one?

No, the firmware is post 11/2022 so cannot be cross-flashed for UHD compatibility but you can enable libredrive for standard blu-ray discs. Just download the latest SDF.bin and put it in the MakeMKV data directory then restart MakeMKV.BendingTorx wrote: ↑Tue Dec 09, 2025 7:59 pmHere's a spare I just picked up from a yard sale, chinese box and all. Thank you for the swift reply! Will this firmware date eventually be possible to be cross-flashed? And I did add the sdf bin file, should the info panel be saying that libredrive is enabled now?

Re: All Pioneer drives will be LibreDrive supported
Once you add the SDF.bin file to the MakeMKV data directory (where the dumps and private_data.tar file are located) you need to power cycle the drive and restart MakeMKV. The SDF.bin file will be absorbed into the private_data.tar file and LibreDrive should be enabled. If it still isn't enabled, insert a blu-ray disc into the drive and MakeMKV should create a firmware dump in the data directory for you to email to support@makemkv.com.BendingTorx wrote: ↑Tue Dec 09, 2025 11:12 pmThank you for the swift reply!
