yes disable noise reduction. The rest looks good.
You can also force DV for HDR10 to avoid the posterization and banding problems on LG TVs.
see these test files: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/fold ... KkCkKrH3JG
How do you force it? Using the g5 settings or ugoos settings? Is there any downside?

In the Ugoos DV settings. I still prefer generating DV but overall it works very well, similar to real DV or madVR DTM. It doesn’t alter the image when the content is within the TV’s capabilities. No black crush has well. see: https://youtu.be/2N6uBDmSwec

Cool. I heard we could do the same for gaming by enabling Dolby Vision PC in the g5 settings.

Hi , just ordered a ugoos for FEL playback

Is it just as simple as ripping a 4k disc using makemkv ??? Or do i need to do anything else ? , also looking at the excel spread sheet it says FEL playback is suported from iso and folder **Unwanted Spam** so again is it just as simple as ripping it to folder format ??

Thanks

Yes, the Ugoos supports every format, but the best and most stable one is MKV, of course.

Just tried that VS10 engine on a few SDR movies and I must say it really makes them shine.
For example the movie Elio (2025) in fullhd sdr really shines when enabling the VS10 to DV engine. The colors really pop from the screen.

I've also tried two FEL movies.
13 hours secret soldiers of benghazi: This one looks pretty nice.
Avatar 2: This one was a little underwhelming.

I have to try out more, but FEL DV being rendered into 12bits if I'm not mistaken isn't necessarily better then MEL.
It really depends on the mastering of the movie.

FEL in some movies adds nothing, but there are a few that expand the brightness much higher and TVs like the G5 benefit the most from it.
see my youtube video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnZVk1eNMZs

I made a sample of the ones that expand brightness. These don’t show the difference between FEL and HDR10, they show the difference between playing FEL on a device that can decode it and one that can’t.

Is it possible to compare tonemapped P5 screenshots with P8?

Reason I ask is because as of lately I'm seeing more and more "RGB 16-bit" screenshots floating around. Are these accurate representation of what P5 has to offer? I thought it was only possible to compare the two by taking pictures of the TV? If so, how are these RGB screenshots made?

Interesting.

Assuming HDR10 is HDR and Profile 5 DV is "expanded HDR" (effectively 12-bit colours because of how the master-to-P5 conversion works), are these tonemapped screenshots an acccurate representation of P5? Am I correct in thinking there's no point comparing them on a regular 8-bit, regular 10-bit screen (HDR) without the capability of "expanded HDR" (P5)? If you know what I mean?

DV is HDR. HDR is a general term that encompasses all HDR formats: HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10+.

There’s no visible difference unless the grading itself differs, or if the WEB-DL comes from Apple TV because Apple is stupid, applies the same color reshaping metadata to all content, which slightly distorts the colors. This issue has nothing to do with P5 using 10bit ICtCp that effectively equivalent to 11.5-bit YCbCr. When comparing P5 and HDR10 across Disney+, Amazon, Netflix, or MAX, they will always look identical, even when viewed in 16-bit RGB.

Thanks, I think this clears it up for me. In other words, P5 and HDR10 comparisons need to be done on TVs in order to see the the difference in colours, correct?

What I'm seeing here is just a difference in quality (blocking and compression artifacts etc.), no difference in HDR quality possible, correct?
