Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XS07U does not work.

Post by Artefakt » Sat Nov 08, 2025 12:45 pm

Hello, I have a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XS07U

Drive information
OS device name: H:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XS07U
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: CIDL007887WL
Firmware date: 2023-01-06
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 82

LibreDrive information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8E21
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-BDS7
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.03/ID05
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted

As you can see from the drive information, it should now at least support Blu-rays (and I also had the faint hope that it could handle UHD). Unfortunately, nothing happens at all. It can rip DVDs, but that's it...
My question is, how likely is it that it is defective, or are there other ways to get it working?

Blu-rays and 4K won't recognize at all?

Perhaps the blue laser is defective or dirty.

You can try to clean the laser lenses with alcohol and q-tips. Clean and dry without getting the alcohol on the laser dry by air.

Thank you very much, that's it. I bought the drive on eBay a year ago. Because of the new firmware, I thought I would have to wait until Mike had a solution ready. Then the solution came and the drive still didn't work.
When I got it back then, it smelled so bad of nicotine that it made me feel sick (I suspect that was the problem).
I quickly researched how to clean the laser head online, and now it works and even rips UHD discs.
