Newer AACS protection on BD-R from Panasonic Recorder

#1 Post by whitedb » Tue Nov 04, 2025 5:51 pm

This is the first time I have seen this error. The Disc is a BD-R recorded on a Panasonic BMR-DWT740. I got the same error on two computers with different drives. What is really strange is that I decrypted three discs at the weekend from the same recorder but a disc made today did not work!

Any suggestions? I tried to save a non-decrypted copy first and then open that as well as opening the disc directly. Neither worked.

MakeMKV v1.18.2 darwin(x64-release) started
Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH10LS30 1.00 K9ZA57L4329d" opened in OS access mode.
Using direct disc access mode
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/a/?IBMsVtTLkcmzWE...
Saved AACS dump file as /Users/whitedb/Library/MakeMKV/MKB_v82_DVD_VIDEO_RECORDER_F39A.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

I assume your previous discs were not AACS v82?? MAkeMKV cannot yet natively decrypt AACS v82. For the moment, AACS v82 dumps must be emailed in but since yours is not a standard pressed blu-ray disc, the dump is no good. You will just have to wait until MakeMKV can natively decrypt AACS v82.
Cheers :D

Thanks for that. I have two Panasonic recorders and I checked the discs that I had previously just written and could read and yes, they were AACSv81. It seems as if one of my two (supposedly identical) BD recorders has updated itself to AACS 82 and they were the discs I could not decrypt. Incredibly annoying as I use the device to shift some TV recordings to my computer.

I will wait. I know it is hard to be certain but do you have any feel for how long native support might take?

Thanks

I honestly have no idea. Possibly won't unless Mike can find a v82 host certificate. You could contact mike admin and ask him about it. It's possible he may be able to do something with your dump file (but I don't think so as those dumps don't contain a valid VolumeID).
Cheers :D

I believe MakeMKV currently ships with an unrevoked AACS 1.0 host certificate. See the processable MKBv82 AACS 1.0 disc dumps here which were generated with a non-LibreDrive enabled drive.
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
  • LG/Buffalo/Asus drives only (Pioneer drives are not supported)
  • Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
  • If your disc dump is under 3MB, you need to manually include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder
