BP50NB40 Help please!!

Post by spacecowboy2050 »

I've very new to this so please bear with me! I've studied the guide before my drive arrived and was confident in what I should do. Drive arrived today - Manufactured in 2023 with fw 1.01? But when I run the SDF Tool Flasher, it says that it's not the MT1959 platform. My understanding is that is won't work / brick if this is the case. Pleas ehlp as I don't want to brick the drive on my first go. It says ROM version LB20 on the back if that helps? Thank you!

Post your Makemkv info. Most likely you got scammed with your drive from China.

There is no libredrive and no chipset information which is bad. Right now I have no advice for you what you can do with that drive. Returning to China is most likely impossible. Could you?

It was from ebay - not sure what I would say though? Is it fake?

Not sure. It also could be that the enclosure is not passing the information. So either the enclosure or the drive doesn't want to play with Makemkv.

What makes me wonder is that this was manufactured in 2023. The 1.01 FW came out in 2018 and there have been updates since. Also, shouldn't it display the whole FW name rather than just '1.01'? Is is possible that it's some kind of no-brand drive made out to look like an LG?

There is a high chance you got scammed. People in China even put old Pioneer components in housings from other companies and sell them with new stickers.

So a legitimate drive would show much more info then? It came it what looked like a legitimate box but the fakes are so good these days I suppose.

To check if it's the drive or the enclosure you would need a USB->SATA adapter and a SATA -> mini-SATA adapter and take it out of the enclosure and then run Makemkv info. Most likely too much trouble and in the end you would have either a) a bad drive or b) a shitty enclosure. Now this is your choice.

You know, I′m ready for the final surprise
There ain't no way around it
Ain′t nothing to say

Steve Miller Band...
Think I am going to return it!!
I'm stuck though as there aren't any available sellers in the UK who are active at the moment.

Get a Verbatim 43888 or 43899. They contain a BU40N.
