Re: BD-RE BP50NB40 UHD DISC?
I have viewed the tutorial. I searched everywhere regarding the risks associated with SVC CODE: NB40. Does anyone have experience with this model? Where can I find the custom firmware for SVC Code: NB40?

Re: BD-RE BP50NB40 UHD DISC?
WP/BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK

Yeah SVC NB40 can be risky. What's the manufacture date on the drive? If after October 2015 it should be ok to flash. I've done a few of those over the years. The flashing process is the same as SVC NB50.
Cheers

Re: BD-RE BP50NB40 UHD DISC?
I have verified the manufacturing date: December 2017.
From my understanding, I am required to use "SDFtool Flasher v1.3.6" and download the "All You Need Firmware Pack" prior to unzipping all the files. After that, I will open the SDFtool Flasher, click on the write firmware button, and then proceed to the LG slim BP50NB40-NB50 directory that holds "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin" to execute the flashing procedure. Furthermore, do I also need to recover using the same "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917" again?

Yes, in the recovery process, select the same BP50NB40-NB50 1.03 bin file that you previously flashed in the popup window, then select the BU40N 1.00 firmware in the normal firmware selection box.davester wrote: ↑Mon Oct 13, 2025 9:00 amI have verified the manufacturing date: December 2017.

Re: BD-RE BP50NB40 UHD DISC?
I have acquired the LG BD-RE BP50NB40 - SVC CODE: NB40 - Manufacturing date: December 2017.
1: Launch SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.6)
2: Write the firmware "DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin" onto my Blu-ray Writer.
3: After the process is complete.
4: Click on the Recovery button, then select "DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin" and then "DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin".
5: Confirm that the Blu-ray Writer can read UHD Discs.
6: Ensure functionality is validated.
I am now capable of ripping 4K UHD discs using MakeMKV. I am grateful for all the support.
I now await a miracle for the Pioneer BDRXS07TUHD - firmware 1.03.

Re: BD-RE BP50NB40 UHD DISC?
I say it's risky because in general, drives should not be flashed if they are manufactured before 2016, however, I have flashed a couple of those with SVC NB40 manufactured from October through December 2015. Anything earlier than October was not compatible.madsquilla wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 9:36 pmCan you tell me what is "risky about it? Yours appears to be September 2015, so is not compatible. You should be able to recover it. Go to the SDFtool Flasher thread and at the bottom of the first post there is a link to a thread with an old BP50NB40 NB40 1.00 firmware. Download it and use the recover option in SDFtool Flasher. In the popup window, select the drive's current firmware and in the normal firmware selection box, choose the BP50NB40 NB40 1.00 firmware you just downloaded.
Cheers
