Cannot open disk, AACS v82: Peanuts 75th Anniversary Ultimate TV Specials Collection

Post by ilikepie3326 »

First time I've ran into this issue, but I just received this set in the mail and ran into this issue.
Disk 1 and 2 confirmed use v82, haven't checked all of them but I imagine that they used the same protection version for the whole thing.

Something else that's odd to me is that both of the drives I have are Libredrive enabled. Would AACS still be an issue? I thought I saw a few people on here say that Libredrive could work around that, but I've never had this issue before, so I dunno.

The dump file is attached to this thread, thanks!

First of all, you cannot attach dump files here. Now, currently MakeMKV cannot yet natively decrypt AACS v82 discs. You need to submit the tgz dump generated for each disc via email to svq@makemkv.com.

Additionally, there are some other options if you want to help the community:

1. You could download SamuriHL's utility and use it in combination with the latest public KeyDB file to possibly generate the decryption keys for your discs and upload them to the public KeyDB.

2. You can host your dump files somewhere (googledrive, onedrive, mediafire etc..) and post the download links here and one of us may be able to generate the keys and upload them to the public KeyDB for you.
Cheers :D

Okay gotcha, thanks for the reply!

I'll be sure to share the files on the main thread (found that after I posted this).
As for using the tool, what functions do I run and how do I know if it was successful in generating the keys?

I ran into the same issue. But since none of the info in this thread makes sense to me I'll wait, hope and pray that MakeMKV gets updated soon to support this new form of encoding.

New blu-rays using the most recent version of encryption, AACS v82, are a little different than older blu-rays. For now, when MakeMKV encounters an AACS v82 disc for which it does not have a decryption key, it produces a dump file (just like when you try to rip a 4K UHD disc for which there is not a decryption key). You should email the dump file to svq@makemkv.com. A decryption key will eventually be created and MakeMKV will download it when necessary.

The log displayed in the bottom portion of the MakeMKV will show the location of any dump file produced.

On my Mac they end up in ~/Library/MakeMKV

On modern macOS, to get to ~/Library in Finder you have to hold down the Option key when you open the 'Go' menu.

Is one file created for each disc or one file captures them all each session?

There would be one per disc that can't be decrypted. The files have an extension of .tgz
