BU40N can't rip DVDs but all Blurays

Hello,

my BU40N is not able to rip any dvds. Even new ones that where never touched just fail in the opening process. Any ideas why this could happen?

Dirty or dead red laser, perhaps? Can it read CD's? If so, the laser may need cleaning. If not, it's probably dead.

Hey so for Blurays as mentioned its fine atm and i rip them.
The DVDs can be found but after clicking they die while the openeing process.
With CDs you mean like MP3? I also did not test if i can just play dvds but not rip them tbh.

Yeah, if it won't even read CD's or play DVD's at all, the red laser is probably no good. You could try cleaning the laser and see if that helps, otherwise get a new drive.
