No Sound... Mostly

#1 Post by BitTwister » Sun Sep 21, 2025 7:22 pm

Just ripped 2 DVDs of The Lucy Show (TV Classics The Lucy Show, Platinum Disk Corporation 2002).

Both disks extracted the 7 shows on each disk, with no sound. This was the case both backing up first to .ISO and then ripping as well as ripping directly from the DVDs. Also in both cases there is an 8th file that appears to be a 2 minute biography of Lucille Ball that has sound.

So, succesfully backed up and ripped, but no sound on the episodes. What?

Following is some info that might be relevant.

If you use the utility MediaInfo does it show a sound track in your .mkv files?

Hmmm... using the MediaInfo Tree View, there is no Audio section at all!
I just fired up an old DVD player and TV to prove to myself that the DVDs actually do have audio, and of course they do.
Great, now what? Some unusual setting in MAKEMKV that must be tweaked only for these two DVDs, I suppose.
