Buffalo BRXL 16u3 fw help

Post by Eldrik »

Okay so i bought a Buffalo BRXL-16u3

Mkv has this info when drive is active

Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BH16NS58
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: KL5OA8E5200
Firmware date: 2120-05-08 09:33
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

No disc inserted

OS: Windows 11 pro
I have the All you need fw pack and the SDFTool, unpacked and ready.

+ The drive has been removed from the enclosure
+ SDFTool Says the Firmware is Encrypted.

I have seen some posts about this drive but none that match the *NS58. Maybe my brain skipped something in the search or I'm just missing it. I am in need of a correct fw to flash. If i could get a bit of help on a step by step on this drive. I am willing to do this and learn so i don't have to bother anyone later. I will admit, I learn better hands on then reading. On that I am willing to pay for this to be done, because I know this knowledge doesn't come free.

Those that respond Thank You in advance for your time.

okay got brave!

SDFTool

1. Dumped the fw to storage
2. selected my drive, write, WH16ns60 1.02mk From the LG 5.25 fw HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936
3. SDFTool now reads: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH16NS60_1.02_211810291936_KL5OA8E5200 , NOT encrypted

Drive now Reads

New member here. I'm ripping a 500+ title DVD collection to an ISO archive, and had ordered the same Buffalo drive. I couldn't get it to work with MakeMKV or WinXDVD Ripper Platinum. I kept getting a Region error, even though the DVDs and the player are both Region 1. I called tech support, and they couldn't help me, because it's a software issue. The player worked as a player, but I could not rip to ISO. I was about to return the drive to Amazon.

I found this post, used the SDFtool Flasher and the FW version indicated in this post, and boom! I'm ripping to ISO with the new drive. Thanks to the OP and the guru that responded with the correct FW version. It's nice to see people helping other people.

PS: I didn't need to remove the drive from the enclosure. I simply connected it with the OEM cable, and flashed it. It worked perfectly.
