Nightcrawler DVD fails to open disc

Thought I had a duff disc, but just got another copy and it still fails to rip. It will play without issues in the same drive (using vlc player), so I don't think it's a physical problem with the disc.

I've tried using all the different protection modes, but all fail in the same way.

The error I get is....

Using LibreDrive mode (v01.0 id=489CDFD6D392)
Using direct disc access mode

It's probably Structural Protection. Some discs won't automatically open even if you try all of the built in protection removal modes.

Try opening the DVD in manual mode. Beginner guide for manual mode is here: viewtopic.php?p=132790#p132790

MakeMKV will show a list of all titles on the disc with title numbers and lengths. There can be up to 99 titles depending on the protection and most are fakes.

Check which titles are long enough to be a movie and try them one-by-one by typing the title number into the Manual Mode window. The fakes will throw an error, but eventually you will get to the real movie that MakeMKV can rip.

I had a disc that was throwing similar errors to you, the built in protection removal modes did not work but Manual Mode did. Heads up the real title on my disc was #55, so it can take a while.

Nordic version must be different. Rip just fine with no errors. MakeMKV 1.18.1, Linux.
Also gddrescue make ISO copy without any problem.
