Feel free to upload your disc dump file to literally any file host and provide a link here. Any option out of Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, MEGA, Swisstransfer, or one of the many free file hosts which don’t require registration will be fine.

(BTW Checkout the latest keydb before you upload your disc dump file as one UHD variant of Better Off Dead is already supported by the public keydb)
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
  • LG/Buffalo/Asus drives only (Pioneer drives are not supported)
  • Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
  • If your disc dump is under 3MB, you need to manually include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder

Please don't create separate threads for submitting a dump for KeyDB. Please submit a post in the Public KeyDB Submission thread containing the dump file name, mentioning what drive model was used to create the dump file and providing a download link for the dump file (you will need to host it somewhere) will allow someone to add a record to the public KeyDB.
Cheers :D

You have misread. This is a thread for MakeMKV that I thought could double up for KeyDB. It couldn't though because I was unable to add the attachment.

I haven't added to the KeyDB thread because when I visited that thread I was reminded that Pioneer drives aren't supported and that is what I used.

Dumps from some Pioneer models can still be used (for AACS 1 only), even though the Public KeyDB Submissions thread says otherwise. I think it is only the UD03/UD04/211/S11 models where dumps can't be used. If using one of these models, only MakeMKV can use the dump. It can't be used for KeyDB at all, regardless of where you make the post, so if using one of those models, there's really no point in uploading the dump, just follow the normal process and email it to svq@makemkv.com.

If you are using a different Pioneer model to those mentioned above, I understand the hesitation in posting in the Public KeyDB Sumbissions thread and creating a new thread but you should mention that in your post, along with the drive model used and provide a download link to the dump file (you will need to host it somewhere such as googledrive, onedrive, mediafire etc...) and one of us may be able to get it added to KeyDB.

The dump file was emailed to the svq address prior to me starting this thread.

Pioneer drives can't be used to derive AACS 2.0/2.1 disc media keys for the keydb. That is the core limitation and I don't expect it to change anytime soon.

My priority in that thread was to encourage users with both Pioneer and LG drives to submit only disc dumps generated with their LG drives.

I've had to remove all subtlety from this messaging as some users do not read carefully (unlike Mr_Orange). Despite the instructions in that thread, I still receive an incredible number of essentially useless disc dumps generated with various Pioneer drives every month.

When a Pioneer disc dump is posted to the keydb thread there are four main possibilities:
1. The disc is already supported by the public keydb
2. The disc dump has a non-obfuscated VID and the media key is known, so the disc dump uploader could've derived and submitted the keydb record themselves
3. The disc dump has a non-obfuscated VID and the media key is not known, so the disc dump is useless for keydb purposes until the media key is hopefully known at some later date
4. The disc dump has an obfuscated VID so it is useless for keydb purposes

My hope is that cases 1, 3, and 4 can be minimised and case 2 will be effectively eliminated through community developed tools.

(I'd also like to see a distinct thread for AACS 1.0 MKBv82 disc dumps but I understand why that could lead to clutter and confusion)

I don't have a comprehensive list of the Pioneer drives which return an obfuscated VID with LibreDrive. Even within the drives known to be less useful I think there may be some exceptions for different firmware versions.

Excellent! Since you are using a Pioneer drive and it's a UHD disc, that's all you need to do. Thanks!

If it was a standard blu-ray disc, and your Pioneer drive isn't one of those previously mentioned, your dump may possibly be used for KeyDB. As keyDB_helper mentioned, UHD dumps from Pioneer drives can really only help if the VID is not obfuscated and it happens to use the same media key as another disc already in the KeyDB.

A separate thread for BD and for UHD would be great, so long as they are named appropriately! I don't see why it'd be too confusing if the thread in the UHD discs section contained "UHD discs" in the title and a thread in the Blu-ray discs section contained "Blu-ray discs" in the title. Something like:

Public KeyDB Disc Submissions (UHD Discs only)

and

Public KeyDB Disc Submissions (Blu-ray Discs only)

What do you think?

I, along with others, have used (AACS 1) dumps from different Pioneer models to help with KeyDB. A dedicated thread would be a great idea, I reckon, and would hopefully stop (or at least minimize) all of these individual disc dump threads that are cluttering up the forum.

Also, this way, when AACS 1 dumps from Pioneer drives are submitted, we will soon end up with a list of compatible/non-compatible Pioneer drives.
Cheers :D

Or if they're on Windows they can use my tool for Blu-ray since the mkb v82 device key was added to the keydb. Then they don't have to provide dumps except to makemkv. And if the media key is known for UHD it handles that, as well.

Yeah, agreed but not everyone uses it (or Windows!)

There are ways to do the same on Linux or Mac. FindVUK doesn't really work well on those platforms outside of wine so I haven't created a front end for it on those platforms. But they have their own tools that combined with LibreDrive can work. There's no host cert for drives that have seen mkb v82 as you likely know, so LibreDrive is the only way to bypass bus encryption. Using MakeMKV on most drives you can get the VID.

I guess it'd be worth a try. Woodstock was a great help in approving and stickying the UHD keydb thread. I suppose the next step would be to see if the forum moderators are happy with the idea.

Funnily enough I always expected the individual disc threads to continue for the purpose of tracking native MakeMKV title support. The keydb thread was partly intended to avoid confusing folks who were not using or interested in the keydb.

Native KeyDB submission on Linux and macOS is an unfortunate gap.

Yeah that's why I've not really done much on those platforms for creating a front end. I didn't really see the point. It's possible to use findvuk in wine which means they can use aacs_keys with the vid to calculate the keydb entry for v82 Blu-ray. And in theory findvuk under wine can submit it. A lot more manual work than most are willing to put in.
