300 fails to be recognized by computer completely

Post by RobynTheGhost »

I recently got a DVD of 300 (2007), but it just fails to be recognized entirely by my computer. Other discs work just fine, but for 300 it just sits there and attempts to read it for 3 minutes before giving up.

It did yield some errors as it was going, such as "Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:UNRECOVERED READ ERROR' occurred while reading 'DVD+R-DL Dell DVD+/-RW DW316 A1C1 M05218L5603' at offset '1048576'" (every error was just this with a different offset each time).

Different offsets often means the drive reached a speed that exceeded available power. Several ways to fix that, the "best" being to fully-power your drive.

It is fully powered though. Other discs are recognized just fine and I've been able to rip a lot of discs without issue, 300 has been the only one giving me trouble. Is there something I'm missing?

This is the drive I have: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-DW316-USB-D ... 0V0?sr=8-1

My drive is fully powered. It is plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard. I'm still getting the same exact issue. I tried using the disc in both my PS4 and PS3 and it resulted in no disc being recognized. It doesn't seem to be disc rot, as none of the early symptoms seem visible. Is there any other possible issue with my disc?

Bad disc by the sounds of it. Symptoms don't have to be visible to make a disc no good. I had a blu-ray disc from 2007 no would longer read even though it still looked perfect. I just went and bought a replacement, which ripped just fine.
Cheers :D
