This drive is UHD friendly?

#1 Post by sandro_rocha » Mon Sep 08, 2025 1:50 pm

Good morning. I found this drive for sale and wanted to know if it would be capable of reading UHD discs. Based on the information on the label, can you tell? I saw that some drives of this model with firmware 1.02 are "UHD friendly." If so, would it be possible to downgrade since this one has firmware 1.03? And if it is possible to downgrade, would the original firmware already work, or would I need to use the Make MKV firmware?

Most likely not libredrive / UHD capable because it's made before 2015. To be sure you should run Makemkv and copy and paste what "info" says in the right part of the window in your next post.

Unfortunately, I can't post this information. I found the drive for sale and wanted to know before buying. Where I live, it's hard to find 4K Blu-ray drives. Even at the time of their release, they were difficult to find.

To be safe the drive must be manufactured in 2016 or late 2015. Don't buy it!
