That's just the mastering display luminance capabilities used to grade the content. The colorist can grade it as bright as he wants.

Does CM v2.9 vs 4.0 matter for MEL if the max nits are below the capabilities of my display (LG G5)?
Since no tone mapping is occurring it shouldn't make any difference?

yes, cmv2.9 4000nits MDL dims at 150nits even on our G5. Also no black crush in 4.0

Could you check the movie "Bring Her Back" on your LG G5? On my Sony A95L, at the scene where the aspect ratio expands, the top and bottom of the screen become dimmer than the rest. I believe it's an L5 thing, but I've never seen that happen in a film before

Thanks. I used your rpu for this movie, too, but it was the earlier version and so the issue was not fixed. Should have waited for this one...

Cool thanks. I have "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" which is a MEL title with a 1000 nit MDL. I shall generate a P8 RPU for it!

1000nits MDL CMV2.9 causes issues on other TVs, but not on our G5, as shown in the data from the link.
I only redo the cmv2.9 4000mdl rpu.

in this case, why you do only 4000nits rpu's instead of 1000nits?

Most likely. Although no one has measured the G4, it appears to affect all LG TVs.

You can test it yourself - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1289366200
Just follow the instructions on the right.

@RESET9999 I'd like to ask about your latest video: https://youtu.be/GnVNJkiunJo?si=83R1Bs5SBwYEY8RV
In terms of the posterization test, are the videos included low bit rate contents? Are tvs other than the LGs supposed to be completely free of posterization when playing those videos? Because yesterday I tested them on my Sony A95L, which is supposed to be very good at suppressing banding and posterization, and I still saw some mild posterization. Just mild, not very bothersome, but still visible, so I wonder if the sources themselves have posterization. I kept smooth gradation setting disabled btw.

The Stranger Things, Liongates and Silo clips have slight banding/posterization in the source, but you should watch the original clips rather than the YouTube versions.
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/fold ... KkCkKrH3JG

The C2 and G5 show a lot of banding and posterization in HDR10, but DV is practically clean. My Samsung HDR10 monitor, on the other hand, shows no banding/posterization at all.

Hi @RESET9999 and every other people.

I contributed in the past in this forum as a proud and happy owner of a Chromecast with GoogleTV(CCwGTV), but since june's Android 14 update with kernel 5.15 Google broke DV FEL playback.
So now I'm looking for a replacement and I'm decided to go with Amlogic SOCs with full DV FEL playback on CoreELEC CPM .

I'm in doubt bettween:
  • Ugoos AM6+ (Amlogic S922X-J) (of course)
  • Homatics Box R 4K Plus / Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus (Amlogic S905X4-K) (the new kid)

Ugoos was my first option after reading RESET9999 detailed review and recommendation, but I'm also considering Homatics based on next tips.
Source: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... id=0#gid=0

The good:
  • High Bitrate via Wi-Fi 6 (faster than Ugoos).
  • AV1& AV1 with DV and HDR10+ capable (a difference of Ugoos).
  • Premium Streaming (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, etc.) via Android TV (a difference of Ugoos).

The least good:
  • SOC less powerful than Ugoos, but moderately snappy.
  • Slower CE boot via mSD card or USB device.

The questions that matters:
  • Both devices would give the same image/sound quality?
  • Homatics have full CE driver support (ethernet, Wi-Fi, bluetooth...) as Ugoos?
  • Amlogic S905X4-K is newer and could have Amlogic longer term support that could bring better future functionalities?
  • Ugoos will have a better CoreELEC maintainers support that could bring better functionalities?
  • Any other appropriate questions that you can contribute.

Please, can you give me your advice?
Thanks in advance.
