Pioneer BDR-XS06

Post by VulcanCCIT »

Not new to flashing devices really, but new to flashing drives with the SDFTool Flasher. So as I read the info about flashing...Pioneer drives may work and flashing may be supported in the future. There was a line in there that if the Drive works now, do not flash... Meaning if it works as a drive but does not work for UHD? That is my case.

MakeMKV shows this about the drive:
Drive Information
OS device name: H:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XS06
Revision: 1.10
Serial number: RADL022586UC
Firmware date: 2017-06-22
Bus encryption flags: 13

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8722
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-XS06
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.10
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted

I ordered this on Amazon October of 2018.

So I am not sure if it is flashable currently. If so, which firmware? I downloaded the "Everything" firmware pack.

Thank you all in advanced for your guidance on this.

Most likely this drive will never read UHDs since there was never any UHD capable one based on this hardware type.

Thank you Billy and Cooper! Between this forum. the MakeMKV Reddit group and the posts by Cooper and Billy I have learned a lot in less than 24 hours. I thought that if the drive could read a UHD, it could rip one. I now see why they need flashed. This drive does not even read a UHD. It has been great for DVDs and Bluray in general though. I see via the Reddit group that Billy is out of drives at this time but I probably will nab one when he has them for sale again. I appreciate your time on all of this!
